U.S. President Donald Trump said he is not demanding that Russian President Vladimir Putin meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a precondition for their own meeting, Orda.kz reports.
He made the statement during a press interaction at the White House, as seen in a video posted to YouTube.
Earlier, reports on such a condition surfaced, citing a White House official.
When asked whether his sanctions ultimatum against Russia still stands, Trump responded:
“That will depend on Vladimir Putin. We’ll see what he says. It’s up to him. I’m very disappointed.”
Trump’s deadline for Russia to agree to a ceasefire is August 8.
