Russian President Vladimir Putin will only be able to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump if he first agrees to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Orda.kz reports, citing the New York Post.
“Putin must meet with Zelensky for the [Trump] meeting to happen. No location has been sent,” an unnamed White House official said.
Earlier, Putin had called a meeting with Zelenskyy “possible,” but emphasized that “certain conditions must be created” for it to take place.
India’s National Security Advisor Invites Putin to Visit Amid U.S. Tariff Pressure
Following the new U.S. tariffs on Indian goods, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in Moscow.
Doval delivered an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Putin to visit India.
Days earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing an additional 25% tariff on Indian imports, citing New Delhi’s energy cooperation with Moscow.
Against that backdrop, India’s state-run oil refineries have stopped purchasing Russian crude following the introduction of additional U.S. tariffs, Bloomberg reports.
Sources told the outlet that Indian Oil Corp., Bharat Petroleum Corp., and Hindustan Petroleum Corp. have all suspended imports.
However, the Indian government has not issued any formal directive to halt Russian oil purchases.
India has been one of the largest purchasers of Russian oil since the onset of the Ukraine war.
