The head of state publicly reprimanded the Minister of Transport for failing to meet deadlines and causing congestion at the borders, Orda.kz reports, citing Aqorda.
President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev chaired a meeting of the Security Council, where he expressed concern over the condition of Kazakhstan’s transport and logistics sector.
According to Toqayev, the modernization of the transport industry is being hindered by systemic issues. He highlighted long border queues, the poor condition of checkpoints, and delays in major infrastructure transit projects.
In the context of global challenges, Kazakhstan must not only maintain but also strengthen its competitive advantages,
the President said, as quoted by the Aqorda press service.
Among key priorities, Toqayev emphasized the need to establish "green corridors," ensure a sufficient supply of aviation fuel, and better integrate Kazakhstan into global supply chains.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Toqayev issued a formal reprimand to Minister Marat Karabayev for missed deadlines and ongoing failures in project implementation.
The Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to urgently take measures to improve the country’s logistics system.
At the previous Security Council session, Toqayev had called for stronger efforts to combat terrorism and extremism and stressed the importance of interagency coordination in maintaining national, economic, and environmental security.
