President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev has directed the National Security Committee to strengthen Kazakhstan’s defenses against cyberattacks, according to Orda.kz.

During a meeting with the committee’s leadership, Toqayev was briefed on recent advancements in cybersecurity, secure government communication systems, and AI-driven technologies. He stressed that cyber threats are becoming increasingly severe and that the country must be fully prepared to counter them.

Particular emphasis was placed on safeguarding critical infrastructure — facilities essential to national security and stability. Following the meeting, the President outlined clear priorities and assigned new tasks to the country’s security services.

This meeting came in the wake of a series of cyber incidents that have shaken public trust. In a recent breach, hackers stole personal data belonging to millions of Kazakh citizens, including senior government officials.

Sensitive information such as phone numbers and family details was leaked online.

Before that, hackers also compromised the website of Kazakhstan’s Embassy in Russia, allegedly gaining access to user data.
