On May 29, Qasym-Jomart Toqayev met with Nuriddin Azizi, Acting Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan, Orda.kz reports, citing Aqorda.
The President expressed hope that the situation in Afghanistan would stabilize.
Kazakhstan is interested in creating a stable and safe environment in Afghanistan, which will allow the country’s potential to benefit the entire region, Aqorda stated.
Azizi, in turn, thanked Toqayev for the humanitarian aid sent to Afghanistan and for Kazakhstan’s efforts to raise the Afghan issue in international organizations.
“The interlocutors discussed prospects for cooperation in trade and economics, transport and logistics, agriculture, as well as geological exploration and digitalization,” Aqorda added.
In mid-April, experts from Kazakhstan conducted exploration work in Afghanistan’s Nuristan province and collected 130 kilograms of samples from potential deposits of beryllium, lead, and zinc.
Since 2021, power in Afghanistan has been held by the Taliban movement.
