President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev held a telephone conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Orda.kz reports.
During the discussion, the two sides addressed the expansion of political dialogue, the strengthening of trade and economic ties, and the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
Special attention was given to joint work within multilateral international formats.
A separate block of talks focused on the current international agenda. The presidents exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East.
The President of Kazakhstan expressed support for international efforts aimed at achieving a lasting peace and stability in the region based on the ‘two states for two peoples’ formula, Aqorda said.
Mahmoud Abbas thanked Kazakhstan and Qasym-Jomart Toqayev personally for their consistent support of the Palestinian people, noting the important role Kazakhstan plays in strengthening global stability.
At the end of the conversation, the President of Kazakhstan invited Mahmoud Abbas to visit Astana at any time convenient for him.
Recently, Kazakhstan joined the Abraham Accords, becoming the first country to do so since the start of the war in Gaza. The Abraham Accords are a series of agreements concluded in 2020–2021 with U.S. mediation, under which Israel and several Arab states officially normalized relations.
