Toqayev Expands Powers of State Security Service

The decree sets out new duties and clarifies the rules of service for employees, Orda.kz reports.
President of Kazakhstan Qasym-Jomart Toqayev has signed a decree amending the regulations on the state security service.
According to the document, the agency has been granted new functions in the field of national security. These include:
- coordinating actions with other security agencies during crises
- participating in mobilization planning activities
- strengthening measures to protect top state officials and strategic facilities
Earlier, we reported that the president also expanded the powers of the Supreme Audit Chamber.
In addition to overseeing budget expenditures and off-budget funds, it now monitors national security matters, including participation in mobilization planning.
