June 4 marks the Day of State Symbols in Kazakhstan. To commemorate the occasion, a ceremonial flag-raising event was held at the Atameken Ethno-Memorial Complex in Astana, Orda.kz reports.

President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev attended the ceremony and delivered a speech, congratulating participants on the national holiday.
State symbols are the embodiment of our independence. The coat of arms, flag, and anthem represent our statehood and show the world that Kazakhstan is a sovereign nation. This year, for the first time, our servicemen independently carried out a peacekeeping mission under the sky-blue banner, Toqayev said.
While the president did not specify which mission he was referring to, he recently honored peacekeepers who returned from the Golan Heights.
As part of the ceremony, Toqayev also presented officer shoulder boards to 14 outstanding university graduates.
