The next session of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will take place in Bishkek in late November, Orda.kz reports.
Kazakh President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev met with CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov to discuss preparations for the upcoming summit.
The head of state was briefed on preparations for the CSTO Collective Security Council session, which will take place in late November in the Kyrgyz Republic. A number of issues in key areas of the organization’s activities were discussed,
Aqorda said in a statement.
Earlier, Toqayev also spoke with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko regarding the upcoming session.
At last year’s CSTO summit, Toqayev summarized the results of Kazakhstan’s chairing of the CSTO.
He noted that all assigned objectives had been completed — including joint military exercises, consultations, and the approval of new cooperation documents.
Toqayev and Tasmagambetov last met in person at Aqorda in June 2024, where they discussed progress on the CSTO’s priority tasks during Kazakhstan’s chairing of the organization.
Particular focus was given to countering terrorism, drug and arms trafficking, and cybercrime.
Tasmagambetov has served as CSTO Secretary General since January 1, 2023. His three-year term is set to conclude on December 31, 2025.
