The leaders of Kazakhstan and Belarus discussed new joint projects and preparations for an upcoming meeting in Kyrgyzstan, Orda.kz reports.
During a phone conversation, Qasym-Jomart Toqayev and Alexander Lukashenko reviewed prospects for bilateral cooperation and agreed on the next steps.
It was agreed that a Belarusian government delegation will visit Kazakhstan in the near future and present specific proposals to deepen cooperation, the Belarusian president’s press service said.
The presidents also exchanged views on key international issues, including preparations for the upcoming CSTO summit in Kyrgyzstan. Toqayev emphasized the importance of the Eurasian Security Conference currently taking place in Minsk.
Earlier, Alexander Lukashenko called Kazakhstan “an important and trusted friend, a strategic partner, and an ally” — a statement he made last year during the credential ceremony for Ambassador Timur Zhaksylykov.
