Kazakhstan’s Border Service has warned of crowding at the Kaplanbek checkpoint, where people are waiting to enter Uzbekistan, Orda.kz reports.
According to the agency, the queue formed because of disruptions in the registration system at the Navoi checkpoint on the Uzbek side.
On the Kazakh side, the checkpoint is operating normally, and no restrictions have been introduced.
Interaction has been organized through border representatives. According to the Uzbek side, measures are being taken to fix the problem and restore the checkpoint’s operation, the KNB Border Service said.
The Navoi-Kaplanbek border and customs checkpoint between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan resumed operations in January 2025 after a two-year reconstruction.
At the time, Uzbekistan’s Customs Committee said the checkpoint would be able to process up to 15,000 pedestrians a day, three times more than before. Passenger car capacity was increased fourfold to 600 vehicles a day.
