The new head is Diaz Diyanov, a longtime KazMunayGas employee with over 15 years at the company, Orda.kz reports.
Igor Ilyin, the son of former Minister of Emergency Situations Yuri Ilyin, has been dismissed from his role as Chair of the Board of KMG PetroChem LLP, a subsidiary of the national oil and gas company KazMunayGas.
He has been replaced by Diaz Diyanov, who previously served as Deputy for Business Development within the same company.
According to the company, Diyanov brings over 20 years of professional experience, including 15 years within the KazMunayGas group. His past roles include positions at KazMunayGas Onimderi JSC, KazMunayGas JSC – Processing and Marketing, the Atyrau Oil Refinery, and KPI Inc.
The reasons for Ilyin’s departure from KMG PetroChem have not been disclosed.
He had led the company since December 2024. Prior to that, he worked at Karabatan Utility Solutions and held senior roles within the Samruq-Qazyna fund and CAEPCO — an energy asset owned by Alexander Klebanov and Sergey Kan.
His father, Yuri Ilyin, was dismissed as head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in 2023 following large-scale wildfires in the Abay region.
