Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar told journalists that a test launch of Astana’s light rail transport (LRT) is expected at the end of 2026, Orda.kz reports.
This timeline differs from earlier statements by CTS head Asylbek Duisenbayev, who had announced that the launch would take place by the end of 2025.
I am absolutely sure that test launches will begin at the end of next year. They will already be traveling (passengers – Ed.),
Sklyar said on the sidelines of Aqorda.
He also mentioned a planned press tour by Astana Mayor Zhenis Kasymbek, though journalists said they had not been informed about it.
Meanwhile, the city has begun preliminary recruitment of dispatchers to operate the LRT.
