Less than a year after losing their home to arson, the family of Sherzat Polat has moved into a new house in the village of Azat, Orda.kz reports.
The construction was financed by philanthropists and supported by the Almaty Region Akimat, according to lawyer Meirman Shekeyev, who represented the family in court.
The Karzhaubayev family is grateful to the people. Seeing the smile and joy on Mrs. Gulbaram's face that day was a joy for us. On behalf of the Karzhaubayev family and myself, I express my gratitude to everyone. May my people never lose their unity,
said the lawyer.
After moving in, the family held a prayer ceremony.
Their previous home burned down last October, shortly after Sherzat’s death.
Authorities confirmed it was arson. The investigation is still underway. Earlier this year, the Prosecutor General’s Office announced plans to use satellite imagery to identify vehicles near the property at the time of the fire as part of the ongoing probe.
