Previously, it was reported that satellite imagery from Russia would be used to identify those responsible for setting fire to Sherzat’s family home, tracking what vehicles were in the area at the time and who was nearby, Orda.kz reports.
Now, similar satellite data will also be used in the case of Sherzat’s uncle, Gaipbayev, who is believed to have died by suicide, to examine the surrounding area and movements around the time of his death.
As previously reported, several of the defendants in the Sherzat Polat Homicide Case had priors.
One of them, Azamat Toktaubayev, became the subject of a criminal case in 2024.
After the events involving Sherzat, while already in a detention facility, he was sentenced to seven years in prison. This is not considered a repeat offense — recidivism only applies if a previous conviction is still active. Therefore, it is not classified as an aggravating circumstance.said the Sherzat's family lawyer, Meirman Shekeyev.
