The Keles District Police Department has launched an investigation into the sexual abuse of a 15-year-old girl. Meanwhile, villagers have shared some details, Orda.kz reports.
Back in January, the teenager from the village of Yenbekshi gave birth in a maternity hospital in Astana, and doctors immediately reported it to the police. The case was transferred to the Keles district, where the victim lived.
However, local police tried to hush up the matter. Subsequently, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the regional prosecutor's office launched an investigation.
When the girl gave birth in Astana, the hospital notified the city police. The Astana Police Department registered the case with the Record Book of Information and transferred it to the Turkistan Region. However, the Keles District Police Department archived it, Children's Rights Commissioner Dinara Zakiyeva wrote on her Instagram.
The suspect is a neighbor and relative.
After the incident, the girl attempted suicide. Her family managed to save her.
The family remained silent out of fear and shame. So the mother insisted that her daughter give birth away from home,
the villagers say.
The whole village was outraged after the incident. The elders said peace could return only if the suspect’s family left the village.
