Sherzat Polat: Deputy Prosecutor General Comments on Ongoing Investigation Into Burning of Family Home
Deputy Prosecutor General Galymzhan Koigeldiyev has shared an update on the ongoing investigation into the burning of the home of Sherzat Polat’s parents, Orda.kz reports.
Despite extensive forensic work, the case has yet to be resolved.
There are certain results from these examinations. I can say why it (the examination. – Ed.) is currently interrupted: we have sent an international investigative commission to the Russian Federation. We want to see via satellite what cars were parked nearby at that time. To study it for completeness. So this will take a little time,
said Koigeldiyev while speaking in the corridors of the Senate.
The incident occurred on the night of October 12 in the village of Azat, located in the Yenbekshikazakh district.
The home was destroyed by fire. The incident shocked the public and raised serious concerns about whether it was a targeted act or a deliberate provocation.
