Novorossiysk, Russia's largest oil port on the Black Sea, came under attack. The port also hosts a terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), through which Kazakhstan exports oil. The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan said it is monitoring the situation, Orda.kz reports.
According to Reuters, at least eight people were injured during the attack, including two children. Drone wreckage hit a residential multi‑story building. Russia did not specify whether the port itself was hit. Typically, during air alarms, oil terminals suspend operations.
In the Novorossiysk area, there is a CPC terminal through which Kazakhstani oil passes from Tengiz, Kashagan, and Karachaganak. Recall that among the consortium's shareholders are Chevron, ExxonMobil, and Kazmunaigas.
These events did not affect the volume of Kazakhstani oil exports. Acceptance and transportation of raw materials are proceeding as usual, and export plans are being implemented on schedule. said Adviser to the Minister of Energy Assel Serikpaeva.
Earlier we wrote that in November 2025, Ukrainian unmanned boats attacked the CPC terminal near Novorossiysk. At that time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan protested to Ukraine. Experts said the strike was purposefully aimed at Kazakhstan's economy, since more than 80% of the country's export oil passes through the CPC – representing about $30 billion in annual revenue.
We would also like to remind you that after the November attack, Kazakhstani oil exports in December fell by nearly a third, reaching a 14‑month low. Only one of the three terminal berths was operational, and Kazakhstan had to curb production.
