The Atambayev family is being evicted from their home in Koi-Tash. Raisa Atambayeva said that their family had agreed with the current president three years ago that they would live in their own home.
She stated that today, when attempts are being made to take it away, she will defend her rights and protect the family hearth, Orda.kz reports.
Raisa Atambayeva openly addressed the president and the people of the country.
It has become fashionable and common for wives of various citizens to appeal to the authorities with requests to leave them houses. I, as a kelin (cultural reference to bride/daughter-in-law - ed.) of the great Kyrgyz people and a true patriot of my country, have no right to humiliate myself and ask that they leave me and my children a house, like everyone else who asks. The very fact that they want to force me to worship is a disgrace to our entire great Kyrgyz nation!
she said.
Addressing Sadyr Japarov, the former first lady of Kyrgyzstan said:
I admit that you may have overwhelming negative emotions towards my husband because he refused to agree to the rehabilitation of Bakiyev in Dubai. But you must understand that he did not speak out against you, but stated that this is not a question that can be resolved by a group of five or six ex-presidents and authorities, but a question that must be resolved by all the people of Kyrgyzstan and especially the families of those killed and injured.
According to her, three years ago, at a meeting with Japarov regarding the Atambayevs’ house in their ancestral village, an agreement was reached that the Atambayevs would live there.
The only house in the state residence that was built not at state expense, but with our own money, was taken away from us. But if you are worried about our honor and dignity being preserved and you want to humiliate us in this way, then everything is in your power now. (...) In the absence of my spouse, I will defend my rights and protect our only family hearth,
said Raisa Atambayeva.
Earlier, the son of the former president of Kyrgyzstan, Kadyrbek Atambayev, said that judicial enforcement officers were evicting his family from their home in Koi-Tash.
Since 2023, Almazbek Atambayev has been in Spain. In early June, a court in Kyrgyzstan sentenced him in absentia to 11 years and three months in prison with confiscation of property and deprivation of state awards.
The sentence was handed down in several criminal cases, including the appropriation of land plots in the village of Koi-Tash.
