Qostanay Akimat Files Police Complaint Over AI-Generated Fake Video

The regional authorities have filed a complaint with law enforcement and warned about the consequences of spreading false information, Orda.kz reports.
A video featuring the image of the Akim of Qostanay region is circulating in messaging apps, allegedly showing him speaking about receiving threats related to the "Immortal Regiment" event.
According to the press service of the Akimat, the video was created using artificial intelligence technologies.
The Akimat of Qostanay region filed a complaint with law enforcement agencies regarding the dissemination of false information,
The regional administration stated.
The Akimat pledged to identify the creators of the fake video and urged residents to trust only official sources and refrain from sharing false content.
Recently, a similar fake involving Gauez Nurmukhambetov, the Akim of the North Kazakhstan Region, was circulated.
That video, also related to the "Immortal Regiment" event and the alleged personal participation of the Akim, was later confirmed by the Akimat to have been generated by artificial intelligence.
