The Qorqyt Ata Special Economic Zone in the Qyzylorda region has officially received industrial specialization, Orda.kz reports.
As of November 10, a new list of priority activities has come into effect under an order signed by the Minister of Industry and Construction.
The SEZ will now support 28 types of industrial production — including textile and clothing manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, mechanical engineering, aircraft repair, and logistics. The list also covers the production of chemical, electronic, and rubber products, machinery, motor vehicles, and space technology, as well as warehousing and infrastructure construction.
Importantly, priority status grants access to a special legal regime with tax and customs benefits.
The Qorqyt Ata SEZ was established near Qyzylorda Airport and spans 550 hectares. According to government plans, the zone aims to diversify the region’s economy away from oil dependence and develop it into a major industrial and logistics hub.
Authorities expect the project to create more than 3,000 jobs.
By 2030, the number of resident companies is projected to reach 39. Its proximity to the Western Europe–Western China international highway is expected to give Qorqyt Ata a strong export advantage across Central Asia.
