Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev commented on the discussions related to Russian President Vladimir Putin's upcoming visit to Kazakhstan, Orda.kz reports.
Earlier, rumors circulated that Putin would lobby Rosatom's interests related to participation in constructing the first nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan.
The Minister clarified that an intergovernmental commission has been created in Kazakhstan, which considers proposals from all suppliers on a competitive basis.
Energy matters have always been one of the key topics for discussion within the framework of international cooperation not only with the Russian Federation but also with other participating countries. If the Russian side raises this issue, we are ready for discussion, Satkaliyev noted on the sidelines of the Majilis.
When asked directly whether Putin’s visit was connected with promoting Rosatom’s interests, the Minister declined to answer, stating that he had no comment.
The President of Russia will visit our country on November 27 on a state visit.
In October, Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar said that Russia's participation in the construction would be considered, taking into account the risks of sanctions.
And in November, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov met with Rosatom Head Alexey Likhachev and discussed prospects for cooperation.
