The Kremlin press service has released a list of world leaders whom Vladimir Putin has congratulated ahead of the New Year, Orda.kz reports.
Topping the list is Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, followed by the leaders of Armenia, Belarus, and the Central Asian countries, including Kazakhstan's Qasym-Jomart Toqayev.
Putin extended his greetings to the presidents of China, North Korea, Bolivia, Türkiye, Mongolia, Brazil, Hungary, Venezuela, Cuba, and Ethiopia, among other international leaders.
According to the Kremlin’s statement, Putin “warmly congratulated them on Christmas and the upcoming New Year 2025.”
The Russian President also sent New Year’s telegrams to several former leaders, including Nursultan Nazarbayev, Serzh Sargsyan, and Raul Castro.
On December 14, 2024, Putin hosted Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan’s former President, at his Novo-Ogaryovo residence.
While no details about the meeting have been disclosed, Majilis deputy Yermurat Bapi has suggested it could be linked to the new "Kazakhgate-2" case in the United States.
