Russian President has signed a law banning the extradition of foreign nationals who are serving or have served in the Russian Armed Forces to other countries for criminal prosecution or to serve a sentence, Orda.kz reports.

The document was published on Russia’s official legal information portal.

Under the new rules, Russia will refuse extradition requests for foreign citizens and stateless persons who serve or have served under contract in the Russian Armed Forces or other military formations and took part in combat operations.

The ban applies to requests from foreign states seeking the extradition of such individuals for criminal prosecution or the enforcement of a sentence.
