Problems of the Caspian Sea and Projects Worth Billions of Dollars – What Bektenov and Mishustin Discussed in Astana

The Prime Ministers of Kazakhstan and Russia met in the capital. The head of the government of the Russian Federation arrived in Kazakhstan on a working visit, Orda.kz reports.
Key moments of the meeting:
- Trade turnover between the countries approached 30 billion dollars – at the end of 2025 it amounted to $27.4 billion. Russia is one of the largest investors.
For nine months of last year, $2.1 billion of Russian investments were attracted. In just 20 years, the volume of direct Russian investments has reached $28.5 billion.the Cabinet of Ministers said in a statement.
- Kazakhstan has invested about nine billion dollars in the Russian economy.
- The parties also discussed projects in the fields of industry, energy, transport and logistics.
They separately discussed the Caspian Sea: how to preserve the ecosystem and stop the decline in water levels. Kazakhstan advocates for joint action by all Caspian countries. A draft interstate program for the conservation of water resources of the Caspian Sea is being prepared.
