The key political event of the week will be President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev’s visit to Moscow — a trip that has been anticipated for several months. The two presidents have recently spoken frequently by phone, discussing what both sides describe as their “brotherly relations,” Orda.kz reports.
According to official statements, Toqayev and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet in Moscow on November 12 to discuss “current issues regarding the further development of Russian-Kazakh relations.”
In preparation for the visit, the flags of Kazakhstan and Russia were raised along Leninsky Prospekt in Moscow, extending to the Oktyabrskaya metro station, RIA Novosti reported.
Aqorda later published footage of the displays.

When Putin visited Kazakhstan last year, Astana welcomed him with the Russian flag displayed on city LED screens — though, at the time, hackers briefly replaced an image on one with the Ukrainian flag.
The two leaders were expected to attend the 21st Kazakhstan–Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum in person. However, it has since been clarified that they will address the forum remotely while meeting in Moscow the same day.
Meanwhile, the city of Oral (Uralsk) — which had been preparing to host the forum — completed dozens of infrastructure projects in anticipation of the visit, including road and lighting repairs. The presidential arrival will no longer take place there, but the city’s upgrades remain as evidence of its readiness.
