On the evening of November 27, a video circulated on the Internet showed a billboard near the capital's Astana Opera Theater illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. The Ministry of Internal Affairs commented on the incident, Orda.kz reports.
The Interior Ministry noted that they are considering all possible reasons why the Ukrainian flag, and not the Russian one, was displayed on the LED screen on the day of Vladimir Putin's arrival. This could have happened due to technical problems, but law enforcement did not rule out the possibility of external interference.
A criminal case has been opened, and all the circumstances of the incident are now being established. The perpetrators, if any, will be held accountable, reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Meanwhile, the State Technical Service acknowledged that there was a cyber attack, clarifying that it was short-lived.
On November 27 in Astana, a case of a flag image being replaced for a short time was on one of the LED screens. According to preliminary data, the attack was carried out from foreign IP addresses using proxy servers, the service reported.
The department is conducting a comprehensive technical inspection.
Yesterday, Keruen-Media LLP, responsible for advertising on screens in the capital, explained that the mishap was due to "a short circuit in a cable.”
