Preliminary Investigation Results on Zhomart Mine Incident Released

The government commission headed by Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev announced the preliminary results of the investigation into the accident at the Zhomart mine of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, Orda.kz reports.
The main cause of the accident was the accumulation of methane in the mine and its explosion from a spark from electrical equipment. There were also serious violations of industrial safety and labor protection.
The employees of the enterprise responsible for this have already been identified.
As part of the investigation, the entire subcommittee worked with the involvement of experts and scientific specialists. They heard reports from the relevant ministries, interviewed witnesses, memorized the production technology, checked the equipment and conducted examinations, The Cabinet of Ministers reported the results of the work of the commission investigating the accident at the mine.
The mine where is currently closed.
Kanat Bozumbayev instructed Kazakhmys management to eliminate violations, strengthen safety, and introduce gas analyzers and video surveillance systems. Measures to prevent similar accidents were also developed.
These are preliminary results. The investigation is ongoing. The enterprise and the Akimat of the Ulytau region are assisting the victims' families.
The incident occurred on February 17, claiming 7 people's lives.
