Ukraine will receive a delegation of Polish military officials this week to review the country’s experience in countering Russian air attacks, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi announced at a briefing on Sept. 17, Orda.kz reports, citing The Kyiv Independent.
The minister announced last week during the visit of his Polish counterpart Radosław Sikorski that a Polish delegation would come to study our experience,
Tykhyi said.
He added that the visit is already scheduled, but details cannot be disclosed for security reasons.
As of now, there is a date for the visit and details, but since we do not announce such visits for security reasons, I cannot go into specifics,
Tykhyi explained.
According to him, the Polish delegation will be “high-level.” Additional information will be provided by Ukraine’s Defense Ministry.
Later, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said that Ukraine and Poland’s defense ministries plan to sign a cooperation agreement that will include strengthening drone operation capabilities, RMF 24 reported.
The announcement follows a drone incident in Poland.
Poland reported that on the night of September 9-10, 19 drones entered its airspace, triggering a response; several were shot down, airspace over several airports was temporarily closed, and the country invoked Article 4 of the NATO treaty.
A Polish military official said that some of the drones in a recent incursion were identified as Gerbera models — low-cost, Russian-produced UAVs similar to the Shahed drones.
