Over 30 Workers Injured at Enterprises in Qaraganda Region in Just Three Months

Since the start of 2025, a total of 293 people have been injured on the job across Kazakhstan, 40 of whom died, according to the Ministry of Labor, Orda.kz reports.
The highest number of workplace injuries occurred in industrial regions. Qaraganda leads with 31 injured workers, followed by Qostanay (27), East Kazakhstan (24), and Aqtobe and Atyrau with 22 each. In Almaty, 19 people were injured.
However, the level of industrial injuries in the first quarter decreased by 16.8% compared to the same period last year. The incident rate stood at 0.04 per 1,000 workers,the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection noted.
The most injury-prone sectors remain the mining and metallurgical industry (15.3%) and construction (12%).
The main causes of accidents include poor work organization, employee negligence, and violations of traffic and labor safety rules.
The Ministry claims progress: over the past five years, the overall injury rate has decreased by 6.3%.
Following a series of tragic deaths at Kazakhmys mines last winter, President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev criticized the state of workplace safety in the country. He highlighted the lack of adequate industrial safety systems in mines and the frequent violations of existing regulations.
The President ordered urgent government action, including audits of production facilities, implementation of digital tools, and reforms in subsoil user training programs.
