Two student suicides occurred at Nazarbayev University over the summer, Orda.kz reports.
Deputy Interior Minister Sanjar Adilov told reporters on the sidelines of the Majilis that comprehensive psychological and psychiatric examinations are underway and should be completed by late October.
We are monitoring the suicide investigation at Nazarbayev University. A comprehensive forensic psychological and psychiatric examination is currently underway. These examinations are typically complex, addressing the cause of the suicide, and can take up to two months. We'll have a final result by the end of October. In such criminal cases, no one is ever considered a suspect,
said Adilov.
On June 18, a student was found dead in a Nazarbayev University dormitory in Astana.
Unofficial reports suggest academic difficulties may have been involved. Another incident followed in August, when a 22-year-old woman from the same dormitory took her own life for personal reasons.
Psychologists were brought in to support students after both cases.
