Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has issued instructions to Nurlan Sauranbayev, the new head of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport, Orda.kz reports.
Sauranbayev’s appointment follows a Security Council meeting, where President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev laid out a series of directives related to national transport infrastructure. During that same meeting, then-Minister Marat Karabayev received a formal reprimand for delays in major infrastructure projects.
As the newly appointed minister, Sauranbayev has been tasked with advancing those same projects, specifically focusing on transit routes for goods and passengers.
As part of the implementation of infrastructure projects, taking into account the instructions given at the meeting of the Security Council, it is necessary to ensure the development of ports, logistics hubs, international transport road and rail corridors,
the press service of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan writes.
The new minister is also expected to prioritize the road sector and oversee quality control of construction and maintenance work.
Additional instructions pertain to aviation development, including the construction and reconstruction of airports, expansion of international flight routes, and the overall strengthening of Kazakhstan’s civil aviation network.
