New Train Service Connects Almaty and Balkhash Starting March 1

A new direct rail service will be available from March 1, Orda.kz reports, citing the press service of JSC Passenger Transportation.
The train between Almaty and Balkhash will operate on alternate days.
The train will have one compartment car and one reserved seat car. The capacity of the cars corresponds to standard parameters: up to 36 passengers in a compartment car and up to 54 passengers in a reserved seat car. Thus, the train will be able to carry up to 180 passengers, the message says.
The schedule shows departures from Balkhash at 07:52 on even days, arriving in Almaty at 00:58. From Almaty, the train departs at 00:10 on odd days, reaching Balkhash at 15:03.
Passengers can book tickets starting from 7,722 tenge.
The Ministry of Transport recently announced terminating contracts with underperforming railway carriers.
