The family of former Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, linked to the Can Juncadella villa in Lloret-de-Mar, has agreed with local authorities to build a new section of the coastal trail to replace a route that has been closed for years, Orda.kz reports, citing La Razon.
The authorities in Lloret de Mar said they would submit an agreement with Flinder Data to the municipal council for approval. Under the deal, the company, which is linked to the owners of the Can Juncadella estate, must fully finance the project and the construction of the new Camí de Ronda route.
The dispute over access through the villa’s grounds has been ongoing since 2009. Local residents and activists have long sought to restore access to the coastal trail, which is considered a public route. Spanish media report that the passage remained closed despite years of legal proceedings.
Courts in Catalonia had previously sided with the municipality and local residents. Recent Spanish media reports say that after the court rulings, the parties reached a compromise: instead of restoring the previous section of the path, a new route closer to the sea will be created, taking environmental and landscape requirements into account.
The agreement must first go through a month of public consultation and then receive final approval from local council members. The exact opening date of the new route has not yet been specified.
