Muratkhan Tokmadi, currently serving a sentence for the contract killing of banker Yerzhan Tatishev, is once again seeking early release before completing his court-imposed term.
Lawyer Anna Chernova, whose husband, Oleg Chernov, represents the interests of the Tatishev family, shared this information on her Instagram.
Muratkhan Tokmadi has recently filed another appeal with the court, seeking a reduction in his sentence. As we understood from the text of his petition, this time he believes that the Prosecutor's Office deceived him. While it is his right to argue his position, the documents show that the prosecutor’s office fulfilled all the terms of the procedural agreement. For the contract killing, Tokmadi was initially given the minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment, which was later further reduced. It can't go lower than that!wrote Anna Chernova.
As the lawyer writes, the hearing on Tokmadi's petition will be on January 16 in a Qonayev court.
This will be Murtakhan Tokmadi's second attempt to be released before the end of his term in recent months.
In August 2024, a court approved his release on parole.
The Tatishev family appealed, and the court sided with them, reversing its initial decision.
In 2018, a court sentenced Muratkhan Tokmadi to 10.5 years in prison for killing banker Yerzhan Tatishev in 2004.
The court identified Mukhtar Ablyazov as the one who organized the contract killing.
