Kazakh scientists have requested about 10 billion tenge to study technologies for processing rare and rare earth metals, Orda.kz reports.
The initiative was presented at Nazarbayev University as part of a flagship program.
According to INMET CEO Zhumabay Bakenov, the project is still under discussion. At the same time, participants already say that the declared amount may not be enough, so they also hope to attract business financing.
We assume that about 10 billion tenge will be needed for the entire program. But all participants say that this amount is not enough. Therefore, we will work with business so that it also takes part in financing.Bakenov said.
He added that the program includes several stages: building a scientifically grounded raw-material base, developing and optimizing extraction technologies, producing high-purity compounds, and advancing materials science.
