The wildfire that broke out in the Kamyshenskoye Forestry unit of the Semey Ormany State Forest Nature Reserve on July 16 was fully extinguished on July 28, Orda.kz reports, citing Kazakhstan’s Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry.
Personnel and equipment from the ecology, emergency situations and defense ministries were deployed to fight the fire.
The ministry said the joint efforts of forestry workers, rescuers and military personnel brought the blaze under control and eventually extinguished it completely.
The fire broke out in the Borodulikha District of the Abay Region. Extreme heat, difficult weather conditions and the highest fire-danger level complicated the response.
Crews remained at the site throughout the 12-day operation, containing the fire and preventing it from spreading.
The Abay Region faced a high wildfire risk throughout July because of extreme heat. Authorities urged residents and visitors to follow fire-safety rules while outdoors.
