Residents of Atyrau again complained about a sharp smell in the city, Orda.kz reports.
The smell was felt in different parts of the city, but the cause has not yet been established.
Residents of Atyrau complained about a sharp smell in the city. In the morning, the stench covered several districts. At that time, there was fog over the city, and the air was filled with the smell.
The smell was impossible — like rotten eggs. It was hard to breathe. said resident Bakytgul Urynbasarova.
Residents assume that the cause is industrial emissions. There are no official comments yet. The editorial board is waiting for a response from the authorized bodies.
The smell of rotten eggs is typical of hydrogen sulfide. It was over excessive hydrogen sulfide emissions that the Atyrau refinery was recently fined 540 million tenge. Ecologists also found excessive levels of sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxide. The plant tried to appeal the results, but without success.
