Large Bus Manufacturer Considers Production in Kazakhstan

Indian automotive giant Ashok Leyland is exploring opportunities to establish production in Kazakhstan, Orda.kz reports, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The potential collaboration was discussed during a meeting between Ashok Leyland Vice President Yash Pal Sachar and Kazakhstan's Ambassador to India, Nurlan Zhalgasbayev.
The company is assessing the feasibility of entering the Kazakh market by opening an official distribution center, with plans for gradual localization of production in the country,the Ministry stated.
In addition to vehicle production, discussions covered investment opportunities in various sectors, including defense, hospitality, pharmaceuticals, and food production.
Ashok Leyland is a flagship company of the Hinduja Group, one of India’s largest conglomerates. The company specializes in commercial vehicles, trucks, and buses. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ashok Leyland ranks third globally in bus manufacturing.
