In an interview with the Kabar agency, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov stated that Russia and Belarus have expressed their readiness to extradite fugitive politicians on the condition that they are not imprisoned, Orda reports.
As for Sapar Isakov, they told us that they are ready to extradite him even today if we do not put him in jail. We are thinking about it. Maybe we should first bring him in and interrogate him about corruption during the modernization of the thermal power plant and the reconstruction of the museum? Let him tell us who took how much money. Returning these funds to the budget is already the task of the law enforcement agencies, the Kyrgyz President noted.
There are also discussions regarding Kurmanbek Bakiyev.
We could hear him as the other side of the events of April and June (2010 - Ed.) and finally put an end to them. The people have been demanding for 15 years: 'Why can't you deliver them from Moscow or Minsk?'added Japarov.
Japarov also spoke about his predecessor's son and younger brother.
He stressed that if Maxim or Zhanysh Bakiyev arrive in Kyrgyzstan, they will immediately go to prison. Reports had previously surfaced that Maxim Bakiyev arrived in Bishkek.
If Maxim had really come, we would have put him in jail and returned the billions to the budget.
Kurmanbek Bakiyev was overthrown in the April Revolution of 2010. He fled to Kazakhstan with the help of Nursultan Nazarbayev and later received asylum in Belarus. In Kyrgyzstan, he was sentenced in absentia to 30 years in prison.
Several months ago, Bakiyev's lawyer said his client was ready to return to his homeland, but only if the charges against him were dropped.
The country's Supreme Court has not yet considered this option.
