The State Committee for National Security has refuted claims about former President's son Maksim Bakiyev arriving in Bishkek, Orda reports, citing Kloop.
This denial comes after investigative reporter Bolot Temirov claimed that Bakiyev had flown into the country on a private aircraft and was staying at the Orion Hotel. Temirov's sources alleged that airport staff were deliberately kept away to prevent them from witnessing the arrival.
Maksim Bakiyev, whose father Kurmanbek Bakiyev was ousted during the April 2010 revolution, faces substantial legal troubles in Kyrgyzstan. He was tried in absentia and sentenced to 25 years in prison with property confiscation for financial crimes following his father's removal from power.
President Sadyr Japarov has previously dismissed speculation about Bakiyev's potential return to the country, urging citizens to ignore rumors.
