The Jogorku Kenesh has adopted a resolution to dissolve the 7th convocation, Orda.kz reports.
Out of 89 deputies, 84 voted in favor, with none opposed.
The time interval between two major political events — the presidential and parliamentary elections — is very short. To strengthen the political system and ensure stability in the country, the initiative group proposes that parliament voluntarily step down, said deputy Ulan Primov during the session.
Another factor cited was the forthcoming amendments to electoral legislation.
Debates on this issue began in Bishkek in early September. According to experts, the decision is closely tied to electoral reform and the realignment of political forces.
