Kyrgyz Citizen Wanted for 17 Years Detained Near Almaty

The Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained a Kyrgyz citizen in the suburbs of Almaty who had been evading law enforcement for 17 years, Orda.kz reports.
The report initially surfaced on September 13.
The man is suspected of committing homicide during a gangland showdown in 2008.
“According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, the detainee was an active member of Kamchybek Kolbaev’s organized criminal group,” Polisia.kz reported.
The gang was one of the most influential criminal structures in Kyrgyzstan in the 2000s.
The man had been on an interstate wanted list and successfully evaded law enforcement agencies in both Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan for many years.
Since the beginning of the month, law enforcement officers have detained 81 wanted individuals and located 58 missing persons. Among the high-profile arrests was a fraud suspect in Astana accused of causing damages exceeding 160 million tenge.
In addition, 28 criminals were detained for the CIS countries and far abroad. A Russian citizen was detained at the capital’s airport who had been wanted since 2013 by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova for the theft and extortion of 150 thousand dollars
