National oil and gas company KazMunayGas (KMG) has published its production results for the first half of 2025, showing an increase in oil and gas output compared to the same period last year, Orda.kz reports.
According to the company’s report, oil production rose by 8.8% year-on-year, reaching 13 million tons. Oil transportation, meanwhile, saw a slight decline of 0.3%, totaling 41.6 million tons.
The volume of raw materials processed at KMG’s refining facilities in Kazakhstan and Romania increased by 16.5%, amounting to 10.375 million tons. Gas production showed the strongest growth, rising 18.3% compared to the first half of 2024.
During this period, companies within the KMG group produced an average of 549,000 barrels of oil per day. Total gas output reached 5.7 billion cubic meters.
The biggest contributor to oil production growth was the Tengiz field, where output increased by 35.5%. Karachaganak followed with a 4.6% rise.
In contrast, production at Kashagan declined by 1.4%, attributed to increased gas content in the extracted oil. OzenMunayGas and EmbaMunayGas reported modest increases of around 1%, while MangystauMunayGas recorded a slight decrease of 0.6%.
The level of oil production by JSC OzenMunayGas, JSC EmbaMunayGas and JSC MangystauMunayGas for the first half of 2025 is comparable to the results of the previous period. At the same time, according to the results of the reporting period, JSC EmbaMunayGas and JSC MangystauMunayGas have seen an increase in gas production by 7.7% and 2.4%, respectively. The increase in gas production at operating assets is due to the commissioning of wells with an increased gas factor,
KazMunayGas stated.
Oil transportation via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) grew by 8.5%, totaling 36 million tons. The overall slight drop in total transportation volumes was due to decreased maritime shipments — down 10.6% through the Caspian Sea and 16.6% via open sea routes.
In refining, the Shymkent refinery led growth with a 22% increase in output. Caspi Bitum recorded the largest decline, with a drop of 34.5%. KMG’s foreign refineries — Vera and Petromidia — posted strong results, with combined output increasing by an average of 60.7%.
