The Supreme Court of Kazakhstan will review an appeal against the deportation order of Bakhyt Reimova, reports Orda.kz.
Reimova, who is the sister of Karzhaubay Nurymov, was detained for 15 days during her uncle Sherzat Polat's funeral on charges of calling for an unauthorized rally, leading to a deportation order.
According to her legal representative, the regional prosecutor's office has helped advance a petition to the Supreme Court to challenge her deportation from Kazakhstan.
Numerous petitions and appeals sent to the Prosecutor General's Office, the Parliament, the UN, the Commissioner for Children's Rights and other agencies have yielded positive results, Meirman Shekeyev commented on social networks.
The case gained public attention in December 2024 when Reimova's son released a video asking authorities not to deport his mother, explaining that she was the family's sole provider.
