Kazakhstan’s Atomic Energy Agency: Vasily Lavrenov Appointed Fourth Deputy Chair

President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev has appointed Vasily Lavrenov as the fourth deputy chair of Kazakhstan’s Atomic Energy Agency, reports Orda.kz.
Born in 1979, Lavrenov is a graduate of the Kazakh State Law Academy. He later studied international law at Duke University School of Law and Kyushu University in Japan, completing his education in 2004.
Lavrenov began his legal career in 1999 at the Titul Legal Agency. He went on to work at GRATA Law Firm and served in the legal department of Kazatomprom from 2001 to 2002. Between 2005 and 2007, he led the legal department and served as chief legal consultant for Bateman Kazakhstan Oil and Gas Company BV.
He then worked as director of the legal department at Integra Management’s Kazakhstan office (2007–2008), followed by nearly a decade at Eastcomtrans, where he was legal department director and general counsel.
From 2019 to 2022, Lavrenov was a senior partner and consultant at Greenline Services Ltd in Budapest. He has been serving as Deputy Chair of the Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas since May 2022.
Lavrenov joins the agency’s leadership alongside previously appointed deputy chairs Gumar Sergazin, Aset Makhambetov, and Timur Zhantikin.
