A total of 139 Kazakh peacekeepers on the Golan Heights received UN medals, presented by UNDOF force commander Major General Anita Asmah, Orda.kz reports.
The Kazakh contingent serves within the UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) and monitors the ceasefire in the Syrian Arab Republic. The peacekeepers guard mission bases, strengthen facility defenses, and engage with local residents.
«The UN medal is recognition of the courage, discipline and dedication of each serviceman, as well as their contribution to peacekeeping in the mission’s area of responsibility,» said Lieutenant Colonel Zhanibek Nurlanov, commander of the peacekeeping company.

Since April 2025, Kazakh peacekeepers have completed 55 tasks, destroying more then 1,200 explosive objects and over 50 improvised explosive devices. Overall, the second rotation of the contingent has carried out 675 operations since the mission began.
Kazakhstan’s independent peacekeeping contingent was first deployed to the Golan Heights in March 2024.
