The corresponding order was drafted by the Ministry of Culture and Information, Orda.kz reports.
According to the order, the council's primary goal will be to improve professional standards in the media, including compliance with the code of ethics. The council will have at least nine people.
The Council is a permanent consultative and advisory body formed for the purpose of developing proposals and recommendations on matters of development of the media industry, the document specifies.
The council's main function will be developing the Code, for which regional departments will submit their proposals and recommendations.
The order also states that the meetings will be chaired by a chairperson and, in their absence, by a deputy or an elected council member. Everyone will be able to express their position on topical matters.
All council members will represent the professional media community.
The order comes into force on October 16.
On June 19, Toqayev signed the law "On Mass Media." Changes followed immediately. The law's accreditation clause affected a journalist who lost the right to visit the government building.
At the same time, the Union of Journalists spoke out against the accreditation regulations initiated by the Minister of Culture and Information, Aida Balayeva. On October 9, journalists filed litigation against the Ministry of Culture.
