Kazakhstan Pharmacies Cut Prices on 589 Medicines

Retail prices for 589 medicines fell at pharmacies across Kazakhstan in July, Orda.kz reports, citing the Health Ministry. Authorities monitored 2,555 products across all 20 regions.
Prices remained unchanged for nearly half of the medicines monitored — 1,267 products. The sharpest reductions, exceeding 20%, were recorded for 147 medicines. Prices fell by 10–20% for another 198 products and by 5–10% for 244.
The reductions covered medicines used to treat infections, cardiovascular conditions and gastrointestinal disorders. Zitmak 250 mg No. 6 fell by 24.25%, Ceftriaxone 1 g by 22.03% and Pantap 20 mg No. 14 by 20.1%. Lisinopril-LF, Enap, Pulmicort and Amoxiclav also became cheaper.
The ministry said prices are monitored in real time through the medicine labelling system. Buyers can use the system to check a medicine’s manufacturer, distributor, pharmacy and maximum permitted price.
State price controls currently cover 3,039 prescription medicines. Another 4,918 products have been deregulated, including over-the-counter medicines and those costing less than one monthly calculation index, or 4,325 tenge.
During the first half of 2026, authorities identified six violations of medicine price caps. The resulting fines totalled 1.4 million tenge.
