Since the creation of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, ten regions in Kazakhstan have opened specialized organizations to operate and manage public hydraulic engineering facilities, Orda.kz reports.
The ministry’s press service reports that 872 facilities have already been transferred to these organizations’ balance sheets, 283 pieces of specialized equipment have been issued, and 1,197 specialists have been employed.
Minister Nurzhan Nurzhigitov said such institutions are now active in the Aqmola, Aqtobe, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan, Qostanay, Qyzylorda, and Pavlodar regions, as well as the Abay and Jetisu regions.
Their responsibilities include ensuring safe operation, maintaining facilities in working condition, and conducting timely repairs. On the ministry’s initiative, regional akimats have approved roadmaps for transferring facilities to the balance of specialized organizations for 2025–2027.
Earlier, the Kenegir Reservoir was taken from Kazakhmys. The Ulytau regional prosecutor’s office cited its strategic importance for the region and approached the Ministry of Water Resources for its transfer to the state.
The process concluded with a donation agreement and an act of acceptance and transfer.
